Moby
The feud started at 2001's Grammy's, when Moby called Eminem ''a misogynist, a homophobe, a racist, and an anti-Semite.'' Eminem responded with a few lines in his recent hit ''Without Me,'' addressing him with the words ''you 36-year-old bald-headed fag, blow me.'' Moby says he didn't take that personally either, writing, ''I think that Eminem is talented and interesting, but I'm kind of stunned at the anger that he has for me seeing as I'd never met him up until the VMAs.''
If Moby was worried for anyone's safety, it was that of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, who was talking to Moby just before Eminem went to the podium, brushing aside the hand puppet (and puppeteer Robert Smigel), who tried to address the rapper on his way to the stage. Writes Moby, ''I was more concerned for Triumph's well-being. If Eminem wants to pick on someone, fine, pick on me, but don't diss the dog-puppet. Triumph the dog-puppet is my hero. That's the sole reason that I went to the VMAs. 'Cos I love that little dog-puppet.''
Eminem got booed by the crowd for referring to Moby as a girl and then made a remark in Moby's direction about hitting a man with glasses. Jeering, posing, and hand gestures followed.
Apparently, the feud started at the 2001 Grammys when Moby spoke out against Eminem's misogynistic lyrics and homophobia. Eminem didn't like that too much, so he wrote Moby into "Without Me", the first single off of his latest album:
"And Moby? You can get stomped by Obie
You thirty-six year old baldheaded fag, blow me
You don't know me, you're too old, let go
It's over, nobody listens to techno"
Actually, Triumph was fine, too. In a statement on his website, the ''Late Night With Conan O'Brien'' regular says he was unharmed, and adds, ''I only wish Eminem could relax and enjoy all he has: his unique talent, and his smooth white hair, which brings to mind a beagle's nutsack. He should lighten up... I mean, my mom was a b*tch too, but I don't go writing songs about it.''
